The Prince Course, just .8 miles from the house, was named the Number One golf course in the State of Hawaii. By Golf Digest. It is also included in their prestigious list of "America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses." The Prince is one of Hawaii's most challenging golf courses, with a USGA course rating of 75.3 and a 145 slope. But fear not. Five different tees on each hole allow you to set your own challenge. Named after Prince Albert, the only son of King Kamehameha IV and Queen Emma, The Prince is Robert Trent Jones, Jr.'s masterpiece. Looking as if it had emerged full-blown from nature, it chugs uphill, jumps ravines and careens downhill like a roller-coaster. The Makai is really three courses in one: the Ocean Nine - venturing closest to the Pacific, the Lakes Nine - winding its way around serene lakes and the Woods Nine - diverting its way through native woodlands.



Anini Beach - Ikena Lani is located just a short walk from Anini Beach. This beach is one of the safest and most protected along the North Shore of the island. A fringed reef runs the entire length of beach and is Hawaii's longest reef. Great swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving and windsurfing during the summer months. This beach is also well known for windsurfing. Windsurfing lessons and rentals are available from Anini Beach Windsurfing at 808-826-9463.

Kalihiwai Beach -About a 5 minute drive from Ikena Lani, Kalihiwai Beach is a great swimming spot in the summer -even for children. In the winter, surfer's frequent this beach. This beach has a great sandy beach that is perfect for laying out in the sun with a book. Kalihiwai Stream separates the beach from the river. The river is a great spot for river kayaking.

Tunnels Beach - This is the best snorkeling spot on the North Shore. The beach is 2-miles long, running from Hanalei Colony Resort to Ha'ena Beach Park. The center portion has a huge half-moon shaped reef just 1/8 mile offshore where snorkeling is the best. Deep water caverns are located close to shore making it a great dive site, too. Swimming is often good here with shallow, sandy and calm areas.

Napali Coast

Incredible 4,000-foot cliffs tower above the Pacific Ocean. Caves, lava tubes, and beautiful beaches make this area worth exploring. You can hike the Napali Coast trail by driving North on the main highway about 30 minutes to KeĠe Beach, or you can see the Napali Coast by boat. There are at least 20 local companies that offer sight-seeing cruises to the Napali Coast. These companies offer sight-seeing cruises, all-day snorkeling adventures and dinner cruises on a variety of different types of vessels. Most boat trips leave from the Lihue area.
